Description
The 22ft dhow is the training dhow of the traditional fleets. It was introduced about 10 years ago to encourage youth sailors into the sport and has been extremely successful. Last season saw over 50 entries into the championships. It is sailed with between 3 - 5 crew who all have to be UAE nationals and only the skipper can be over 17 years of age.
The top three boats overall in the 2009 -10 season:
1st place Dahees skippered by Al Hur Rashid K. Al Muhairi
2nd place Shamardel skippered by Sultan Saeed Hareb
3rd place Al Zeeb skippered by Majid Sultan Saeed Al Dhahri
There are five rounds planned for this season with the final on 29th April
