Bad weather over the weekend forced organisers to postpone the third and final heat of the 43ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Championships scheduled to be held at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on Saturday.

“We did not want to take a risk with the boats or the crew members in such weather conditions. We had a meeting of the organising committee and deemed it better to postpone the race instead," said Huraiz Bin Huraiz, Chairman of the Sports Committee at DIMC.

The weather forecast for the weekend had strong winds accompanied by dust storms and low visibility. “Though it would have been ideal to stick to our calendar and host the race, the weather conditions will not really help us or the sailors. So we thought it best to postpone the heat," Bin Huraiz added.

The race has now been tentatively fixed for February 25.
