Mohammed Abdulla Harib, CEO of the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), speaking on behalf of the Club’s Board of Directors and the UAE marine sports community, extended his sincere condolences and deepest sympathies on the passing of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He prayed to the Almighty to shower the deceased with His vast mercy and forgiveness and to grant him a place in Paradise.

Harib affirmed that the legacy of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum would remain alive in the memory of the Club and the marine sports community, noting that his contributions would continue to be an integral part of the institution's history and journey.

"It is with deep sorrow and grief that we mourn the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose name is linked to pivotal moments in the history of the Dubai International Marine Club and the evolution of marine sports in the UAE," Harib said. "He played a fundamental role in establishing and launching the Club, serving as its first president in 1988. Through his vision and support, he helped lay the foundations for a journey rich in achievements."

He added, "That era saw the Club join the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM)—becoming the first club from the Middle East and Africa to gain such membership—and paved the way for the establishment of the Victory Team in 1989, which carried the name of Dubai and the UAE to global podiums." Harib noted that the global stature achieved by the Dubai International Marine Club over the past decades rests on solid foundations laid by its pioneers and founders at its inception—foremost among them Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His support and vision during the early years played a pivotal role in cementing Dubai’s presence on the international marine sports map, opening up broad horizons for the development of these sports and paving the way for achievements at both regional and global levels.
